Chochmat HaLev B’nai Mitzvah Program
Our program, in collaboration with Wilderness Torah, combines deep Jewish learning with out-door adventure. Weekly classes teach music, Hebrew and Torah chanting, prayer, meditation, study and discussion of classic Jewish texts, practices and history.
The out-door portion of the program meets twelve Sunday afternoons per year. In these outdoor gatherings, students come together to bond and connect to the wisdom of our natural world. Through discussion, ritual, out door challenges and hiking solos, students are encouraged to explore the deeper questions of becoming an adult. The gatherings are scheduled to roughly correspond with the ancient Jewish pilgrimage festivals.
Parents and families are also encouraged to get involved, especially with the students’ tikun olam project in which the students participate in a service-oriented or charity-oriented activity. Students also have private meetings with Rabbi SaraLeya in preparation for their ceremony. Please contact me to learn more about the program.
